Merdeka Memorial Building in Infrared (Melaka, Malaysia)

Melaka, Malaysia
Merdeka Memorial Building in Melaka, Malaysia
Proclamation of Independence Memorial Building in Melaka, Malaysia. This building is situated just at the foot of St. Paul's Hill in Melaka and is nearby the historical Portuguese ruins of A Famosa. You can see a few of the ubiquitous trishaws that are oftentimes decked with colorful decorations and lights.

Batu Caves Entrance in Infrared

Batu Caves Entrance in Infrared
Batu Caves, Kulala Lumpur, Malaysia

The photo below shows the entrance to the Batu Caves with the towering statue of Murugan (said to be the world's tallest according to wikipedia) besides the entrance. Visitors to the cave will have to go up 272 steps to visit the insides which shows various Hindu shrines. If you plan to visit the site be sure to watch out for kleptomaniac monkeys that are known to grab food, bags and other stuff from unsuspecting tourists.

The Hindu festival of Thaipusam is celebrated chiefly in Batu Caves in Malysia. I have not had the pleasure of witnessing the festival in person (the recent one was on Sunday 27th January 2013) but I'm sure it is very interesting.

Langkawi Cable Cars

Langkawi Skybridge Cable Cars

As seen from one of the observation platforms going up to the Langkawi Sky Bridge. If it's the first time you are visiting the island then going up the Sky Bridge is something that you should not miss. 2 sets of cable cars will get you there with an observation deck in between and also at the top.

Battery Hearn: Corregidor Island, Philippines

Battery Hearn

This is Battery Hearn in Corregidor Island's Battery Way. This gun has the most range and is meant to protect the island from invading ships.

Corregidor Island, Philippines

Note the long exposure required as seen from the ghosting of the people in the background. I just realized that shooting at long exposures may not necessarily bad and in fact may be preferable when you are at those historical sites with a lot of tourists wandering about.
